Low Key Surfboards was founded in 2007. Owner Neil Hamilton grew up surfing Long Beach Island, New Jersey in the 60’s. Yep – back in the day when “the original” Ron Jon’s was just a place where a couple of surfer dudes shaped & sold boards.
Much to the relief of Neil’s parents, he chose a “responsible” career path as opposed to heading out into the world to create his own version of Endless Summer. Eventually, Neil established his own building company in New Jersey where he “served many years of hard labor” so to speak. Now he’s living the “Low Key” lifestyle in Indialantic, Florida and doing what he loves. How lucky is that?!
Where’d the company name come about? Well, late one afternoon after a day of boating, Neil & a few friends were sitting around his Pine Island backyard bar enjoying a few adult beverages. The sun was setting on a great day as someone commented that “Livin’ this LOW KEY lifestyle is fantastic.” It seemed to stick and Low Key Surfboards LLC was born!
